In the contemporary world, day-to-day life for most people has become so stressful that:
In such turbulent and traumatic social circumstances, a number of mental health professionals worldwide have accepted the challenge to find creative ways to deal with life challenges and dilemmas. Two such professionals are psychotherapists, Dr. K. Sohail and Bette Davis RN, MN. They have combined their more than 50 years of experience working with hundreds of individuals, couples and families to offer programs based on the Green Zone Model.
In their clinics the Green Zone Model, developed by Dr. Sohail, has already helped a large number of people not only to deal with their emotional and relationship problems but also improve their quality of life.
According to the Green Zone Model, human beings live in one of three emotional Zones, Green, Yellow or Red, at any given time.
When people are in the Green Zone, they are relaxed and happy and are enjoying life. They can have healthy communication with their dear ones and can rationally deal with their interpersonal conflicts.
When people fall into the Yellow Zone they become nervous, sad or angry and begin to lose their composure. They become irritable and have difficulty communicating with others.
While in the Red Zone, individuals become extremely distressed or depressed and then withdraw or lose control. Sometimes they are not even able to care for themselves.
Just like individuals, relationships can also live in the Green, Yellow or Red Zones. For people to have healthy Green Zone communication, both parties need to be in the Green Zone. Trying to communicate with someone in the Red Zone is like talking to someone who is drunk. Similar to people and relationships, systems such as family, work or community, also live in one of these three emotional zones.
For people to survive the toxic environment of the Yellow and Red Zone Systems, the Green Zone Model first assists people in becoming aware of the Zone in which they generally live, and then guides them to find ways to lead happy and healthy lives by discovering their personal Green Zone. Numerous practical skills, coupled with inspirational real-life stories are the pillars of the Green Zone Book Series.
The Green Zone Book Series begins with Dr. Sohail’s foundational book, The Art of Living in Your Green Zone. While affectionate, intimate relationships are the center of the second book in the series entitled, The Art of Loving in Your Green Zone. In collaboration with Bette Davis, Dr. Sohail has taken the Green Zone Model to the workplace, in The Art of Working in Your Green Zone, which is scheduled for release to the public in spring 2004. Because of the feedback from readers, particularly those with professional backgrounds, two other books - Creating Green Zone Schools and Creating Green Zone Families - are now in development.
